Braves' Jacob Mayers puts on a show at the Trop!
Richmond Braves National 2008/09 teams star Jacob Mayers (Hanover, '09) competed in the prestigious 2009 Power Showcase Home Run Derby at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, January 3, 2009. Jacob represented the state of Virginia in the invitational event that featured the best high school hitting prospects in the world from the Class of 2009. He hit a total of seven homeruns in the major league park - three with a wooden bat and four with metal. He finished just outside the top five scores required to advance to the finals. Congratulations to Jacob and look out  for the Big E in 2010- Jacob's younger brother, Eric, is a likely candidate for next year with his sweet swing and monstrous power to all fields.
