The Richmond Braves National '12 took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back en route to a 6-2 victory. The top of the Braves lineup had a great day as lead-off man J.D. Johnson (2012, Prince George, VA) and two hole hitter Josh Mason (2011, Bishop Sullivan, VA) seemed to be on base every inning collecting five combined hits. Johnson flashed great speed and a good approach as a lead-off man. Mason displayed great baseball instincts, a line drive swing and some pop as he collected three hits including a triple. The two players scored a combined four of the Braves six runs.

Braves starting pitcher Jack Roberts (2013, James River, VA) stifled the Boom hitters with an effective three pitch mix between a fastball which topped out at 80mph, an upper 60s curve, and a mid to upper 60s change. His change was especially effective against left handed hitters. Roberts showed excellent control allowing only one walk over seven innings of two run baseball to earn the win.

"Competing is what the Braves are all about. There is no flat ground and no where to rest. It's a steady climb to the top.
